White Ribbon Day - No Excuse for Abuse
Sydney.On 24 November 2017 over 1,500 locals marched for White Ribbon Day to raise awareness and prevent men's violence against women.
The march, hosted by Canterbury Council and Campsie Police, has been ranked as the biggest White Ribbon Day event in Australia, with special guests such as the Peter Cosgrove, Australia's Governor General and the Canterbury Bulldogs team in attendance.
Men Encouraged to Participate through Canterbury Council Initiatives – Dominic Sullivan
The initiative of White Ribbon Day is to encourage men to participate as a symbol of their opposition to men's violence against women. As such, the day commenced with men and the community taking an oath to end violence against women.
"We hope that today we have brought awareness amongst all men in the community and can't wait to see many more participate in the future," said Bilal El- Hayek, member for Canterbury Council.

PAYCE, a sponsor of the event, demonstrated their support of White Ribbon Day through participation in the walk.
"PAYCE are very proud to be part of the White Ribbon March as it is events like these that bring the community together and brings awareness around this cause," said Dominic Sullivan, Director, PAYCE.
At the end of the march walkers were greeted at Parry Park with food, music and entertainment in thanks to acknowledge their efforts for White Ribbon Day.

GRAND OPENING OF A NEW COMMUNITY GARDEN AT RIVERWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL
A New Garden for Riverwood Public School Well Received – Dominic Sullivan
Wednesday 29 November was the grand opening of a new community garden at Riverwood Public School. Hundreds of friends and families gathered at the school to celebrate their new garden with a community BBQ.
The garden, filled with fruit trees, veggies and herbs has been in the making for almost 12 months and has now become a hub for children to learn about agriculture and the environment.
Principal Encourages Kids to take the Leading Role in the Design – Dominic Sullivan
"The kids have played a major part in the design of the garden, deciding what type of trees and plants we should have," said Rob Borg, Principal of Riverwood Public School.
"With the new BBQ and pergola in the garden, all visitors are able to celebrate, socialise and enjoy a sausage sizzle.
"It really goes to show that the garden is a great resource to share for gatherings and with the community - it looks beautiful," said Mr Borg.
PAYCE School Upgrades add to the Positive Impact – Dominic Sullivan
The community garden is not the only new addition at Riverwood Public School. "PAYCE is proud to have sponsored recent upgrades in the school. Recently new, colorful handball courts were installed under the pergola as well as new seating and grounds have been repainted," said Dominic Sullivan, Director, PAYCE.
The revamp has had a positive impact, providing students with inspiring facilities to play and learn as well as transforming Riverwood Public School into an inviting gathering space for parents, students and the community.
